The Dentist Channel system needs Windows XP or Windows 2000 and should work with Windows NT but that's untested. It will not run under Windows 98/ME without a lot of modifications.. It also needs IE 5 or above and Windows Media Player 7 or above but all these min requirements are met in Windows 2000 and XP anyway.

You do not need any special equipment to get The Dentist Channel . All you need is a reasonable quality computer connected to the Internet with an always on broadband connection and 30 gigabytes of available local hard drive storage. The Dentist Channel is not run via streaming of data but uses the latest file sharing technologies. Technically it is called Peer to Peer distribution. These files are collected by the management software during times of the night, which you set in the Windows scheduler, when bandwidth is not being used and played out according to a daily schedule.

A consequence of this is you do not need a special computer to handle The Dentist Channel as long as the specification can handle the graphics requirements of the professional graphics files involved and the modest disc storage. The minimum safe requirements are:

A 500mhz processor based computer with a 24bit graphics card, 16 bit sound card and of course a DVD drive, BUT this would only allow you to run the demo at the 800 x 600 playback resolution. (If it's an intergrated motherboard with onboard sound and video adapter you might get away with 1024x768 but it would be a "try it and see" situation, but don't be surprised it it doesn't work very well) - that's the absolute minimum and should be avoided -hey Dentists can do better than that!!!

A 1ghz based computer should allow for 1024 x 768 display playback with a 32 bit colour display.

A 2ghz based computer should display the 1280 x 1024 resolution in a 32 bit colour display without any problems (at least it's ok on a new Dell 2.6ghz machine we've just tried it on it looked very good too, even on a CRT display).

Lastly you can run The Dentist Channel with less than 30 gigs of storage as you can see from the demonstration DVD. This runs using approximately 4gigs of storage. The modern computers have disc drives with hundreds of gigs available. We recommend a modern practice should have a dedicated The Dentist Channel computer which is used during the day for normal business activities, leaving 30 gigs of space for file administration for the automated libarary system, unique to the Dentist Channel. - more information is available about how it works in the free trial page.
